Just got my results! WOOOOO I PASSED! I’ve been checking the my.bham portal all day and they just suddenly appeared about half hour ago. They haven’t published the official overall year mark online, but I should be getting a letter in the next few days with all that sort of stuff. The average mark is about 60% which is very good, about a 2:1. I’m happy now, off to celebrate.
Going off on holiday tomorrow to Egypt. We’re flying from Manchester, so we’re planning on doing a bit of plane spotting wednesday afternoon. Apparently the hotel has some sort of internet cafe, so I’ll no doubt be uploading a few photos and updating my blog once or twice.
My results still haven’t come! I got an email saying they should be out after today, but nothing as yet. Hopefully they will done by tomorrow ‘cos I would like to know before I go away.
I’ll be in touch…
Once upon a time in a far away land, lived a princess named Jolene. She had long blonde hair like a river of gold flowing down her back, her eyes were as blue as the ocean. Every prince in the land longed to look into her blue eyes, for she was the most beautiful princess. She never knew her mother and father, as an evil troll called Vladimir had kidnapped her when she was a baby and locked her away in a castle made of stone. The king and queen searched for their daughter for years, but were unable to find her. Eventually, they both died of broken hearts, for they grew apart after they lost the princess and felt empty without her. The town grieved for months after the deaths of their rulers.
Still nothing! Pissing me off now. I’ve sent an email to see if I can collect them tomorrow morning, hopefully they will get back to me and I can go fetch them. Getting a bit of a joke now.
I was hoping to get my results today (actually, they I was hoping for them yesterday but they didn’t come) so when the postman arrived, I raced to the door to collect the post and… nothing. Just checked on the my.bham portal and saw a drop down box that wasn’t there last time I looked, containing my results for last year.
There was a letter from the 21st World Scout Jamboree UK Contingent with a receipt for my payment, so I have now been accepted onto the International Service Team for the Jamboree next year, pending my CRB check. So that was good, but it means I now have to wait until tomorrow for my results to come. The annoying thing is we were told to expect them some time this week… grrr! If they don’t come tomorrow I think I will go in on Friday and kick them about a bit until they tell me - I just wanna know!
Just uploaded some new photos to the gallery. Theres some photos from last night at the Vine and a few nights at the Rose and Crown and some others. I’ve also put my Cosford Airshow photos on. I only took a few photos, mostly of the Red Arrows because, as I explained before I was more interested in watching it myself than taking photos. Enjoy!
Went to Cosford Airshow this weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect for it, there was hardly any cloud in the sky all day so I could see everything. It also meant I got quite burned but oh well. The highlights of the day was the new Eurofighter Typhoon which I saw briefly last year, but came back to do a longer display this year; the Hercules and Chinook (my two favourite helos); the Red Arrows and the Spitfires. It is the 70th anniversary of the first Spitfire flight this year so there were a couple of those displaying - what beautiful aircraft, not only is it nice to look at, its great to listen to! There was also the usual range of side stalls selling loads of junk and a little bit of interesting stuff.
I didn’t take many photos because I was more interested in watching the show through my own eyes than a camera screen, but I did take a few shots of the Red Arrows at the end - they never fail to amaze!
Four lads from 3rd Wombourne Scout Group (my old group) are raising funds to go to the World Jamboree next Summer. If you can afford to donate even a pound to send them on this once in a lifetime experience you will make some people very happy. If you need some idea what a World Scout Jamboree is, my diary from when I went to the Jamboree in Thailand in 2002 as well as a load of my photos are on the 3rd Wombourne website.
