The time has finally come after two years for me to start thinking about where to leave my domain name for the next two years. Registered in May 2004, it comes up for renewal on 19th May this year. It is currently being held by Fasthosts, who I have to say have been pretty good (considering I have never paid them a penny for the privelege, I transferred my domain into them shortly after purchasing it from someone else!) but there are certain things about them that annoy me. On the other hand, I have registered a few domains lately from 1and1, who I like a lot more so I am going to see about transferring over to them. So, if at any point in the near future you see my site disappear for a few days dont worry (not that anyone will anyway, who cares!). This also means that my emails wont be available for god knows how long so that could be a big headache :S

Don’t do it! One and One are shite. Utter bastards. They’ll seize control and never let you have your domain back!

I seriously recommend avoiding them. Go for http://www.orchardhosting.com or something instead.

I dunno what experiences you’ve had, but i have 3 domains with them at the moment and have never had a problem. They don’t charge for transferring away from them and their prices are very good.
